Martial arts software built around the belt journey
A martial arts school lives or dies on one number: how long students stay. ClassPulse manages the whole arc — trial pass to member, white belt to black — with billing and check-in that run themselves so you can stay on the mat.
One system for the whole student lifecycle
Rank progression that means something
Your curriculum becomes the system of record: every belt, and the specific skills a student must demonstrate to earn it. Instructors evaluate from a class grid during or after class — a star rating per skill, pass/fail on the rank — so testing readiness is a report, not a gut feeling about forty students.
Promotion day gets its ceremony: a passed rank generates a printable PDF certificate with the student's name on it. And between tests, parents watch skill-by-skill progress in the portal, which quietly answers the "is this worth $150 a month?" question every family asks themselves. Promotions themselves always stay your call — ClassPulse records the pass; your instructors award the belt.
Most dojos don't have a front desk. That's fine.
If you're the head instructor, the owner, and the billing department, the software has to do the admin while you teach. Students check themselves in at a kiosk with a PIN or scan. Tuition collects itself on autopay. Waivers are signed online with a typed e-signature before a new student ever bows onto the mat, and the signed PDF is archived where you can find it.
Two-way SMS from your school's own dedicated number handles the "is there class tonight?" texts, email templates cover announcements, and if you sell uniforms and gear, the built-in POS puts it on the family's account. Revenue, aging, and retention reports — plus QuickBooks and payroll exports — close the loop at the end of the month.
Martial arts school FAQs
Can ClassPulse track belt ranks and testing requirements?
Yes. Skill categories and levels map directly to your belt system — the skills required for each rank, evaluated by instructors on a class grid with star ratings and pass/fail. When a student passes a rank, you print a PDF certificate for promotion day, and parents follow progress in the portal.
Does it move students up a belt automatically?
No — promotions stay in your hands. ClassPulse records evaluations and passed ranks, but awarding a belt and placing a student in a new class is your instructors' decision. Rank means something precisely because software doesn't hand it out.
How does membership billing work?
Memberships bill on a recurring schedule through Stripe autopay, with proration, late fees, and dunning with smart retries built in. Payouts go directly to your school's own Stripe account; pricing is Stripe's standard rate plus a flat 0.75% platform fee.
Can we sell trial passes or class packs?
Yes. Punch passes work as trial offers and as class packs for students who train drop-in style. Families buy the pass once and check in against it each visit — a clean intro offer that doesn't require inventing a fake membership tier.
We're a family school — parents and kids both train. Does billing handle that?
That's the family-account model: one account, multiple students (kids or adults), one saved payment method, per-person enrollments, and one itemized statement. Rule-based family discounts apply automatically as more of the household joins.
How fast can a single-location dojo get started?
Onboarding is self-serve and most schools are live in about 15 minutes. Import students and enrollments from a CSV — including Jackrabbit or iClassPro exports. The free plan covers up to 50 students, which fits many dojos indefinitely; paid tiers are $49, $99, and $199 per month.
